You start out focused on one simple thing… and suddenly five other things are demanding your attention.

Pull up the bathroom floor? Now we’re talking about the subfloor. Fix the subfloor? Now the finished height changes. That affects the transition, the toilet flange, trim — and maybe something else nobody expected to find.

That’s remodeling.

And it’s also one reason two contractors can look at the same project and come back with very different prices.
